The recording features musicians and colleagues of Swoboda, including horn professor John Ericson; euphonium/tuba professors Gail Robertson, Matt Tropman and Ben Ordaz; and pianist Gail Novak.
The album includes works by Aliyah Danielle, Jose Flores, Dorothy Gates, Robertson and Amit Weiner. Swoboda, an Eastman tuba artist, chose composers he knows personally and whose writing for tuba he wanted to explore.
The title track, a quartet by Mexican composer Flores, examines cultural identity through the interaction of euphonium and tuba. Flores imagines a world where diversity is embraced, and the final movement celebrates that ideal.
Swoboda previously released four albums: Table for Three (2014), Fanfare and Flourish (2012), Shamanic Journey(2011) and Deanna’s Wonderland (2000).
